Student wellbeing

At Bordertown Primary School, we believe that every child deserves a supportive and welcoming environment to flourish. We focus on supporting mental health, emotional resilience, and positive relationships.

We provide students with the tools and strategies they need to thrive emotionally, academically, and socially through our comprehensive wellbeing programs, including the Berry Street Education Model.

Our nurturing spaces, including a sensory room, sensory path, and nature play areas, allow students to explore, learn, and self-regulate.

We recognise the importance of support networks by actively connecting families with support and services.

Pastoral care

Chaplaincy services promote student wellbeing by engaging young people in activities that address mental health needs and support early intervention. Pastoral care workers offer emotional, social and spiritual support, role modelling, mentoring, school and community engagement, and extra-curricular contribution.

Our pastoral care worker provides support to:

  • students by listening, taking an interest in them, being involved with their daily lives, facilitating activities and seminars and being a positive role model.
  • staff by being a supporting resource, providing a listening ear, encouragement, friendship and supporting their personal wellbeing.
  • families by being a person of contact, listening, caring, providing support in times of crisis as well as being a referral to support services.
  • community by being a link between churches, the wider community and the school community.

Breakfast Club

Breakfast Club ensures students have access to nutritious meal before the start of school. We value the importance of children beginning their day with a well-balanced breakfast to improve concentration, attendance and classroom behaviour. Our dedicated volunteers ensure that every child feels welcomed and supported.

Our Breakfast Club operates every Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday morning from 8.30am to 8.55am.
